Just rode in my friend’s! Was pleasantly surprised! Not sure on the pops though when decelerating, sounds too tinny. Overall though, very powerful and feels very quick.

But have you driven? I’ve driven both, there’s nothing meh about the RS.

I loooove the pops, I don’t think it’s deceleration I think it’s just off-throttle. Having experienced a car with anti-lag in the past, I feel that the RS’s overrun is much more authentic than something like the crackle from the Jaguar F-Type.

Driven the Golf. Would rather a GTI or a Fiesta ST.

As hard as it is for me to say it, as far as a fun driving experience goes I’d rather the FWD’s than the AWD monster. The limits are just way too high for it to be more fun on the road apart from acceleration.

And be that as it may about the RS, I have no interest in it now as a result. To my mind it has to be better than the FoST, but since I’d rather have the FiST anyway it cuts no ice...

I’ve driven older R32s, those are fun. I fully agree the current Golf Rs are straight up mundane, but it really doesn’t compare to the RS.

Ford is doing a killer job engineering the “experience” into their new fun cars, and it shows. The Golf R has no ‘experience’ other than being quiet and quick and blah. What I’m saying is, don’t dismiss the RS just because of the Golf, go drive one, you won’t be disappointed.

Yeah, that’s what i meant. My friend’s RS only has 60 miles on it, so maybe it sounds better as the mileage increases.

Drove one the other day and really wanted to dislike it. I am no fan of the ST at all. Boy was I smitten when I got done driving it. It is a very very good car. I think if I had kids I’d seriously consider one, but I’ll stick with coupes in the mean time.
